The 2008 Tournament was held on Tuesday, May 13th, at Canterbury Country Woods. A continental breakfast fueled players before the shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The Putting Contest is a favorite for many golfers, but until this year, no one had managed to sink a putt from the edge of the practice green in one shot. For the first time in tournament history, we had a clear winner early on. His victory was short-lived, however, as by the end of the tournament we had a three-way tie and had to have a heated ‘Putt Off’! Alan’s of Boscawen generously catered a hot luncheon buffet.
During the raffle, golfers eagerly awaited the announcement of the next ticket holder. Prizes included a weekend at the Balsam’s, gift certificates to local restaurants, rounds of golf, a golf bag with the Boston Patriot’s logo, lawn chairs, golf clubs, and assorted golf shirts, gloves and hats.
A total of $44,000 was raised for Club kids.
Next year’s Tournament will be held on Tuesday, May 12th. Spaces are limited for both teams and sponsorships, so people are encouraged to reserve a spot early.
