Overview

The Concord Boys & Girls Club provides afterschool programs, summer day camps and basketball leagues to 1300 youth in the greater Concord area.   Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who most need us, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.  We offer a safe place to belong, caring adult mentors and programs covering everything from academics and leadership development to physical fitness and healthy habits.

A safe place to belong

The Club's sole purpose is to help young people develop into caring, productive and responsible adults. This gives us an exceptional opportunity to develop relationships
t
hat lead to life-changing results. The supportive environment also gives kids freedom to try new things.
Our approach is modeled on youth development research conducted by the Search Institute's research on the
40 Developmental Assets.

Enriching activities

Walk into any of our sites and you will see young people doing homework, creating art
or puppet,  producing a video, practicing Yoga, playing floor  hockey, making homemade apple sauce, leading a community serviceproject, doing research on the computer, and even  learning how to resist peer pressure.

Caring mentors

Time and again, Club alumni return to reminisce about the staff member who encouraged them to be more and do more. Staff members and  volunteers at the Concord Boys & Girls Club enjoy a unique opportunity to get to know kids in an informal environment free from the pressures of school, family, and the usual social mix.
